Cavalier

Based on the old Tyrolean pipes of Germany, the Cavalier has an unusual airhole system. The bent stem joins the shank in the usual way, but the airhole in the shank goes all the way past the bowl to the end of a foot which is capped. The smoke travels from the bowl through a hole that joins the airhole in the shank. The design is meant to collect moisture in the part of the airhole between the bowl and the foot. The cap on the foot can be taken off so that the moisture can be removed.
