| Panelled Billiard / Foursquare / Quaint
| |
The Panelled Billiard is a basic Billiard shape with flat, or panelled, sides. The classic panel has four flat sides and a round shank. Four panels and a square shank make a Foursquare. The number of panels is not limited to four, however. Six and eight panel Billiard pipes are common. The basic requirements for this shape are that the angles must be correct, the panel size must be the same, the edges must be sharp, and the panels and the transitions between them must be smooth and even.
Sometimes, Panelled Billiard pipes with more than four bowl sides are called Quaint, especially if the shank has as many sides as the bowl.
