| Volcano
| |
The Volcano has a conical bowl, usually with a rounded base and a bent shank with saddle stem. Because of the cone-shaped bowl, this style may have a relatively narrow tobacco chamber for the size of the pipe. This shape requires careful selection of the briar in order to display even, straight grain radiating from the bowl and birdseye grain on the bottom.

Notes
-
Usually carved so that the grain radiates from the center of the bowl.
-
Bottom may be rounded or flat.
